A first class consultant doctor. He clearly is abreast of all of the latest treatments and developments within his field and this inspires total trust and confidence. His manner is excellent; sympathetic without being condescending and straightforward without being brutal. This is quite a skill! Last time I visited I was seen 45 minutes late as he had run behind with other patients earlier in the surgery. I was therefore not expecting to be given a great deal of time unless something was drastically wrong. Whilst I was generally fine, Steve took the time to ask about me and give me an outline of options that will emerge in the near future. All in all he took about 20 minutes, which whilst that might not seem a great deal to some, was valued by me greatly. An outstanding doctor and I feel lucky that he is influential in my current and future care.

hi I have been a patient of Steve from the first time he started practicing at heartlands. He has always been helpful and fully open to listening to patients needs. He is very considerate putting the patients needs and worries first. Over the past fifteen years I have suffered many health issues Steve has always been there to reassure me and indeed treat me with the utmost care and professionalism. Steve always goes above and beyond the call of duty as a physician to treat each patient to the best of his ability. i feel that Steve is not only my doctor but a friend I can confide in. Damian

After personally going through a stressful and worrying period, and coming to terms with my illness, i believe i would have struggled to get through this if it had not been for the help, care and support of Dr Stephen Taylor. He is extremely professional and I find it easy to talk to him openly, not only does he have an extensive knowledge in his field, but he and has helped me to understand my illness and encouraged me to read literature, to change my lifestyle, and I am now involved and taking part in the departments diet trials, something I would never of dream of becoming involved with. I have the greatest respect for Dr Taylor his professionalism is commendable.

I transferred to the care of Dr Taylor at Heartlands from Coventry NHS Trust in January 2014 after discovering that I had Hepatitis C. I had been HIV positive since 2005 and had been monitored in Coventry. I had been recommended to Heartlands and Dr Taylor because of his reputation as a top expert in HIV care and co-infections with other viruses such as Hepatitis C. In the past 12 months all my expectations of my care have been completely exceeded. Dr Taylor's understanding of HIV and the impact it has had on me is second-to-none. He completely understands the problems and challenges I face, not just in a medical sense but the impact it has had on my mental health and sexual behaviour. His ability to breakdown a problem, explain options and recommend solutions are excellent. I have made so much progress since being under the care of Dr Taylor. Having experienced many doctors in the NHS since contracting HIV I would say without any hesitation that Dr Taylor is the best. I look forward to my consultations with him!

Reading past comments, I can only echo what remarks have been made. Steve makes special effort with the consultant/patient relationship. Each consultation is unhurried and thorough. He goes way beyond the call of duty and is totally passionate about his area of expertise and the NHS. I feel honoured to be one of his patients and know I am in same hands.
